Bringing Homoeopathic Medicines from India to the USA or UK: Labels, Liquids and Customs

A practical checklist for families travelling back from India — so your medicines arrive with you, labelled, in good condition, and without problems at the airport.

Almost every family visiting India goes home with a bag of medicines. Homoeopathic medicines are usually small and light, but a few simple steps avoid problems at security and customs — and keep the medicines usable. Rules can change, so always check your airline and destination country's official guidance before you fly.

What not to carry

  • Unlabelled powders, "kits" or packets from unknown sources — besides customs problems, some have been found to contain undeclared drugs
  • Medicines for a serious condition that your local doctor does not know about
  • Large quantities for friends or relatives

If you need repeat supplies later, the clinic can courier them for personal use or you can source them locally with the prescription — see the USA and UK guides.

Consult Dr. Meenakshi. In Udaipur: Monday to Saturday, 10 AM – 1 PM by appointment, and 6 PM – 9 PM walk-in with no appointment needed. Online consultations are available by video call or WhatsApp, with medicines couriered from the clinic.

Common questions

Usually yes for small, personal-use quantities in original labelled containers with a prescription. The FDA decides case by case and generally expects no more than about a three-month supply.

Hand-luggage liquids are usually limited to small containers (about 100 ml / 3.4 oz each); globules avoid this. Check your airline's rules.

It is strongly advisable to carry the prescription or a doctor's letter in English, along with labelled bottles.

It is better not to. Carry only your own supply for personal use.
